The Anderson Hall Project

Description and Beginnings

"AHP" has been described as 'fun, energetic, authentic and original'. Their sound has been described as 'Americana, Rockabilly, Groove and Folk'. They are eager to make their presence on the local music scene and bring enjoyment to all listeners.

"AHP" or the Anderson Hall Project, developed from an acoustic duo with Drew Beckett and Kevin Peacock reuniting after decades of distance and space. They met in college and both had a passion for music. The Idea was to write original music and infuse some covers so family and friends could enjoy live performances. A full band was then created at the suggestion of listeners and "AHP" was formed. Although Drew had to reduce his presence in the band due to contraints, he still plays as a guest musician and recording artist.

The songs then progressed with Paul Morlen on bass and Jeff Gard on drums/percussion. Jeff and Paul are both seasoned musicians with decades of live performance and recording experience. They met Kevin in the original line up of the Louisiville KY local "Shondas" band. Paul and Jeff brought new life and ideas to the acoustic songs, and "AHP" has moved forward for all to enjoy.

Jeff Gard

Drums and Vocals

Jeff started playing drums at age 6 tearing up toy drum sets every Christmas until his dad finally caved in and bought him a Slingerland set in 1968.  He played drums in school band and also played tuba in Marching band.

At 17 he helped form the Lexington, Ky based rock band "Banshee" touring the Midwest.  After moving to Louisville he started collaborating with Mike Sary, bassist and founder of Progressive Rock band French TV. The band afforded many opportunities to play festivals in the U.S. as well as Italy, France, Portugal and Mexico

Jeff met Composer/multi- instrumentalist Steve Katsikas (Little Atlas/Dark side of the Wall) and they formed a Prog-Pop musical group called “Grackle”. Grackle is soon to release its third recording in fall of 2024.

While in Grackle Jeff met guitarist/ songwriter, Dave Serchuk. Dave enlisted Jeff for some of his solo tracks in 2022 and then the two have teamed up  in "The Shondas" Kevin Peacock joined the Shondas as lead guitarist and that has led to yet another musical awakening which is The Anderson Hall Project

Jeff has recorded drum tracks for many local artists and actively plays in the legendary Blues Band, "The Travelin’ Mojos."

Jeff’s drumming influences growing up were iconic drummers like, Charlie Watts/John Bonham/Keith Moon/Ringo Starr and Clyde Stubblefield. Jeff’s musical intrests are mostly in the jazz/ Rock fusion category nowadays and some of his favorite drumming artists are Vinnie Colaiuta, Keith Carlock, Dennis Chambers and Dave Weckl.

Paul Morlen

Bass Guitar

Paul's musical interest has always led him to the bass guitar.  He was immediately drawn to the connection among rhythm, harmony, and melody; that he still finds endlessly fascinating.  He spent many years honing his bass skills and developing his music theory before finally taking the step of playing in a rock cover band twenty years ago.  Making music in a band setting was a truly wondrous experience that he embraced. From there he was hooked.  Over the years he has played in quite a few cover bands.

It wasn't until a couple of years ago that he wanted to try original music.  Tapping into his own creativity was a very satisfying turn in his musical journey.  Paul met Jeff and Kevin when he was part of The Shondas.  From there the three formed the original music band, Anderson Hall Project (AHP).

Paul's approach to bass is more workman than showman - a link between rhythm on one hand and harmony and melody on the other.

He draws his musical influences from a wide variety of genres and their bass players - but mainly in jazz, blues, and funk, and believe it or not, thrash metal.

Kevin Peacock

Kevin has played guitar for over 30 years. Although he got a late start on the instrument at 19 years old, he had fantastic guitar teachers (Doug Sinclair, Ben Lacy, Paul Schumsky, Jim Martin) and took lessons for decades. He played in bands such as "The Ace Stephens Band", "Tooth Pig" and "Moss Farm". He then moved to KY and reunited with Drew Beckett his old college guitar buddy and started playing again in 2020 for friends and family. Currently he's playing with the local rock band "The Shondas" in Louisville Ky, where he met Paul and Jeff. That's where "AHP" formed.
